Corruption and Looting Exposed at Harare City Council

Image
A shocking report has emerged from the Justice Cheda Commission of Inquiry, revealing widespread corruption and looting at the Harare City Council. Top officials are alleged to be earning over US$12,000 per month, while 60% of revenues are going towards salaries. A staggering US$4.5 million loan to Harare Quarry in 2017 was embezzled, and no police report was filed despite the incident occurring seven years ago. The report also highlights the secrecy surrounding Harare Quarry’s operations, with the company failing to declare its revenue, profits, or dividends to the council since 2018. Other alarming revelations include the Harare City Medical Aid Society’s purchase of a house in Ruwa for US$1 million, and the illegal parcelling out of over 5,000 plots by Harare CCC councillors ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections. Furthermore, the council rejected a locally developed ERP system in favour of a more expensive foreign alternative, and is still using outdated methods to store financial ...

In a remarkable display of urgency, more than 10,000 Afrikaners have expressed interest in seeking asylum in the United States as refugees within a mere 18 hours. This sudden surge in asylum requests comes at a time when diplomatic relations between South Africa and the US are deteriorating. The deteriorating diplomatic relationship between South Africa and the US has been exacerbated by former President Donald Trump’s imposition of sanctions on South Africa. Interestingly, Trump has reportedly offered support to the Afrikaner community, which has been a subject of controversy in the past. The Afrikaner community has historically been associated with the apartheid regime in South Africa, which has led to ongoing tensions and debates about their role in the country’s history. The US Refugee Admissions Program has been suspended until further notice, with the Trump administration citing concerns about national security and public safety. Despite this suspension, the US government h...

Zimbabwe is facing a new cholera outbreak, affecting nearly 300 people across eight districts. The Ministry of Health and Child Care attributes the outbreak to infrastructure failures, particularly burst pipes contaminating water sources. The situation is dire, with residents in Glendale navigating through pools of sludge due to neglected infrastructure. The Nyirongo family from Glendale had ten members rushed to the Tsungubvi Cholera Treatment Centre after showing symptoms. Concerns remain about whether government measures, including drilling boreholes and providing water purification tablets, will be sufficient to quell the epidemic amidst ongoing sanitation issues.  News Fron Dandaro.online Dandaro Online,  Zimbabwe Latest News today
